Short answer: Tipalti has two plans. Tipalti Accounts Payable starts at 99 dollars a month and Tipalti Mass Payments starts at 249 dollars a month, both with unlimited users and no per-approver fee. On top of the platform fee, Tipalti charges transaction pricing per invoice and per payment, plus payment and FX fees that vary by method and destination. None of those transaction rates are published, so your quote decides most of the bill.

We read Tipalti's own pricing page on 19 October 2026 and checked every number below against it. Where a figure comes from somewhere else, we say where.

Tipalti pricing plans at a glance

PlanStarting priceUsersBuilt forAdd-ons
Tipalti Accounts Payable99 dollars a monthUnlimitedPaying suppliers and bills, with a self-service supplier portalProcurement, Expenses, Treasury (quoted)
Tipalti Mass Payments249 dollars a monthUnlimitedPaying large numbers of payees such as creators, affiliates, sellers and contractors, with a payee portalProcurement, Expense Management, Treasury and FX (quoted)

There is no free plan and no free tier. Standard implementation is included in both plans and, in Tipalti's words, covers "common AP and payment workflows." More complex setups, such as several ERPs or unusual approval chains, may need paid professional services.

What the 99 and 249 dollar prices include

The Accounts Payable plan is Tipalti's AP automation product: invoice capture, approvals, supplier onboarding through the portal, global payments and reconciliation back to your ERP. Tipalti describes it as AI-powered, and its pricing page lists AI agents for reporting, bill approvals, invoice scanning, tax form scanning, ERP sync and PO matching. The Tipalti Card, which pays invoices by card and earns cashback, sits alongside it.

Mass Payments is built for the other direction of scale: not dozens of suppliers with invoices, but thousands of payees with no invoice at all, paid on a schedule. That is the plan marketplaces, ad networks and creator platforms buy, and it is why it starts higher.

The headline feature for a growing US team is the user model. Tipalti says there is no per-user and no per-approver fee, which matters if you want department heads approving bills without each of them adding a seat. Compare that with per-user AP tools, where adding ten approvers can double the bill.

Expenses is quoted as an add-on. If what you actually need is receipts landing in your books rather than a full expense management module, a QuickBooks receipt scanner is a much smaller purchase, and you can add Tipalti Expenses later if card and reimbursement volume grows.

The Tipalti fees that are not published

The starting price is the part of a Tipalti bill that is easy to quote. The variable part is where most of the cost sits, and Tipalti lists the categories without the rates:

Fee typeWhat Tipalti saysWhat to ask in the quote
Per invoiceTransaction pricing applies per invoice on the AP planRate per invoice, and whether it falls with volume
Per paymentTransaction pricing applies per payment on both plansRate per payment for ACH, wire, check, PayPal and card
Payment method and destinationFees vary by method and destinationSeparate rates for US domestic and international payees
FX"Competitive FX rates", no rate publishedMarkup over the mid-market rate, per currency
Add-on modulesProcurement, Expenses, Treasury quoted separatelyMonthly fee per module and any usage component
Professional servicesStandard implementation included, complex setups may cost extraA fixed scope and price before signing

That structure is normal for payments software, and it is not a reason to avoid Tipalti. It does mean two companies on the same 99 dollar plan can pay very different amounts, because the bill tracks how many invoices you process and how many payments you send, and where.

Why third-party Tipalti price lists disagree

Search for Tipalti pricing and you will find four different numbers. They are not all wrong, they are from different moments:

SourceWhat it listsWhy it differs
Tipalti pricing page (19 Oct 2026)Accounts Payable from 99, Mass Payments from 249 dollars a monthThe current two-plan structure
PricingSaaS trackerA Q2 2026 change from five named tiers to two starting-price plans, with Treasury moved to an add-onRecords the restructuring itself
CapterraA Starter plan at 99 dollars a month, no free versionOlder tier name, same entry price
CostBenchSelect at 99 and Advanced at 199 dollarsPre-restructuring tiers
SubgerPlans from 129 dollars a monthUnclear, matches no current plan
ERP ResearchFull deployments with global payments commonly 1,500 to 5,000 dollars a monthTheir estimate of total cost including transactions

Our read: trust the two published starting prices, ignore old tier names, and treat the ERP Research range as a sanity check on what a full deployment with international payees can reach once transactions are counted. It is their estimate, not a Tipalti number.

A worked monthly Tipalti budget for a US AP team

Because the transaction rates come from your quote, the honest way to budget Tipalti is as a formula you fill in. Take a US mid-market company on the Accounts Payable plan that processes 600 supplier invoices a month and sends 450 payments, 400 by ACH to US suppliers and 50 by international wire:

LineFormulaYour quoted rate
PlatformAccounts Payable plan, from 99 dollarsQuoted platform fee
Invoices600 invoices x per-invoice rateRate per invoice
US ACH payments400 payments x ACH rateRate per ACH payment
International wires50 payments x wire rate, plus FX markup on the converted amountWire rate and FX markup
Add-onsProcurement or Expenses if boughtMonthly module fee

Run that with real numbers from two quotes and the comparison gets easy. The exercise also shows where the bill is sensitive: the invoice and payment lines move with volume every month, while the platform fee barely matters past the first quarter.

Tipalti vs Bill.com pricing

BILL is the tool most US teams put next to Tipalti, and the pricing models are built differently. BILL charges per user: Essentials 49, Team 65 and Corporate 89 dollars per user per month, with Enterprise quoted, and it publishes its payment fees, such as 0.59 dollars per ACH payment. API access is included on every BILL plan. We break that down in our Bill.com API pricing guide.

The rule of thumb that follows: BILL is easier to price up front and gets expensive as approvers are added, while Tipalti costs more to start but does not charge for users, so it tends to win once many people approve bills or once you pay a lot of international suppliers. If you are also weighing a procure-to-pay suite, our Coupa pricing breakdown covers the enterprise end, where everything is quoted.

What changes when an AI agent creates the payment batches

Here is the cost line nobody puts in the Tipalti business case. If the per-payment fee is where the bill scales, then whatever creates payments controls the bill, and more teams are about to let software do that.

We measured Tipalti's published API on 19 October 2026. Of 36 REST operations, 12 are writes. One call to create a payment batch accepts up to 5,000 payments, the rate limit is 1,500 requests a minute, and none of the 161 input fields on those writes is an amount ceiling, a monthly budget or an approver. A per-payment flag, isThresholdIgnored, even lets the caller skip Tipalti's payment threshold. The new Tipalti MCP for Claude Enterprise is read-only for now, yet its OAuth server already lists write scopes for payments and payees. The full measurement is on our Tipalti MCP server and API controls page.

Tipalti does offer an approval phase, configured during implementation, where each batch must be approved in Tipalti Hub before it is processed. Turn it on. It works per batch, though, not per agent or per amount, and it knows nothing about what one agent already spent this month. So the agent-driven part of your Tipalti bill is the one line with no published price and no ceiling.

That is the gap we built AgentsPay to close. Each agent gets its own budget, a per-payment ceiling and an approval threshold with a named approver, checked before it calls Tipalti, with spend controls for AI agents that apply the same way to Tipalti payouts, cards and other payment rails.

Which Tipalti plan should you choose?

Choose Accounts Payable if you pay suppliers against invoices and want approvals, supplier onboarding and ERP sync in one place. It is the right plan for most US mid-market finance teams. Choose Mass Payments if you pay many payees without invoices, such as creators or marketplace sellers, on a schedule. Get the per-invoice and per-payment rates in writing for both your domestic and international mix before you compare against anything else.

And if AI agents will create payments in Tipalti, through the API now or through the Tipalti MCP server once write tools ship, budget for the control layer at the same time. Our AgentsPay plans are priced by the number of agent wallets, with no per-transaction fee.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Tipalti cost per month?

Tipalti Accounts Payable starts at 99 dollars a month and Tipalti Mass Payments starts at 249 dollars a month. Those are platform fees. Transaction pricing per invoice and per payment, plus payment method, destination and FX fees, is added on top and quoted to each customer, so most mid-market bills are well above the starting price.

Does Tipalti have a free plan?

No. Tipalti's pricing FAQ says there is no free tier, and Capterra also lists no free version or free trial. The lowest published price is the Accounts Payable plan at 99 dollars a month, with standard implementation included rather than charged separately.

Does Tipalti charge per user?

No. Both Tipalti plans include unlimited users, and Tipalti says there is no per-user or per-approver fee. That makes Tipalti cheaper than per-seat AP tools for teams where many managers approve bills, because adding approvers does not change the platform price.

What are Tipalti transaction fees?

Tipalti charges transaction pricing per invoice and per payment, and payment fees that vary by method and destination, but it does not publish the rates. FX is described only as competitive. Ask for per-invoice, ACH, wire, check and FX rates in writing, split by US and international payees.

Is the Tipalti API included in the price?

Tipalti's pricing page does not list a separate API fee, and its REST API is documented publicly with OAuth 2.0 access for payer accounts. Confirm API access and any limits with Tipalti sales during the quote, especially if you plan to create payment batches automatically or connect AI agents.
