Short answer: Zapier MCP has no separate price. It is included in every Zapier plan, and each successful tool call uses two tasks from your monthly allowance, while failed calls are free. On the entry Pro plan, 750 tasks for 19.99 dollars a month billed annually, that works out to about 5.3 cents per call. Zapier Agents bill differently, in activities from their own allowance, starting at about 33 dollars a month on Pro.
If you are costing Zapier for an AI rollout this quarter, the plan page alone will mislead you, because it prices tasks and your agent spends them two at a time. Below are the published 2026 rates, a per-call cost for every common tier, a worked budget for a small finance team, and the one number Zapier does not meter at all. All prices are from Zapier's pricing page and MCP usage documentation, read on 13 October 2026.
How much does Zapier MCP cost?
Zapier MCP costs two tasks per successful tool call, drawn from the same task pool as your Zaps. Zapier's usage documentation says each successful call "consumes two tasks", that failed calls consume none, and that batches count per action, so adding five spreadsheet rows is five calls and ten tasks. There is no per-session limit on calls. The only ceiling is your plan's task allowance.
That makes the real price a function of your tier. Zapier sells Pro and Team plans in task bands, and the per-task rate falls as the band grows.
| Plan and monthly tasks | Annual billing, per month | Monthly billing | Cost per MCP call, annual | MCP calls included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free, 100 tasks | 0 | 0 | n/a | 50 |
| Pro, 750 tasks | 19.99 USD | 29.99 USD | 5.3 cents | 375 |
| Pro, 2,000 tasks | 49 USD | 73.50 USD | 4.9 cents | 1,000 |
| Team, 2,000 tasks | 69 USD | 103.50 USD | 6.9 cents | 1,000 |
| Pro, 10,000 tasks | 129 USD | 193.50 USD | 2.6 cents | 5,000 |
| Team, 10,000 tasks | 169 USD | 253.50 USD | 3.4 cents | 5,000 |
| Pro, 100,000 tasks | 489 USD | 733.50 USD | 1.0 cent | 50,000 |
| Enterprise | Quoted by sales, annual task limits | Negotiated | Custom | |
Cost per call assumes every task in the band goes to MCP. In practice your Zaps share the pool, so the effective allowance for an agent is smaller than the last column suggests.
Is Zapier MCP included in the free plan?
Yes, Zapier MCP is available on the Free plan, but 100 tasks a month is only 50 successful calls, which a single agent working through a morning of email triage can spend before lunch. Sharing an MCP server with colleagues needs a Team or Enterprise plan, which is the practical starting point for any business rollout. On a single shared server the whole team draws on one allowance.
What happens when you run out of Zapier tasks?
Two things can happen, depending on pay-per-task. With it off, tool calls stop and return an error saying your account has reached its task limit until the billing cycle resets. Your server configuration and connected apps stay in place. With pay-per-task on, calls keep running and the extra tasks are billed at 1.25 times your base per-task rate on annual plans and 2.5 times on monthly plans, until usage reaches three times your subscription.
That multiplier matters on monthly billing. On the 2,000-task Pro plan at 73.50 dollars a month, the base rate is about 3.7 cents a task, so an overage MCP call costs roughly 18 cents, nearly four times the in-plan price on the annual version of the same plan. If an agent loops, the meter keeps running until it hits three times the subscription.
How is Zapier Agents pricing different from Zapier MCP?
Zapier Agents pricing is metered in activities, not tasks, and agent activities do not touch your task allowance. Zapier lists 400 activities a month on the free tier and 1,500 on Pro, with Pro starting at about 33 dollars a month billed annually. Each agent run is capped at 10 activities on free and 40 on paid plans. Enterprise agent pricing is custom.
The practical split: use Zapier MCP when a person is driving an AI client such as Claude or ChatGPT and wants it to act in your apps, and Zapier Agents when you want an agent running on a trigger or schedule with no one in the chat. Many teams pay for both, which means two meters to watch.
A worked monthly budget for a small finance team
Take a five-person finance and operations team at a US company. Two people use Claude with Zapier MCP to look up invoices in QuickBooks Online, draft bills and send payment reminders, about 25 successful calls each per working day. One Zapier Agent reconciles new Stripe payouts each morning.
- MCP calls. 2 people x 25 calls x 22 working days is 1,100 calls, or 2,200 tasks.
- Existing Zaps. Say the team already runs 1,500 tasks a month of ordinary automation.
- Total tasks. 3,700 a month, so the 2,000 band is too small and the 5,000-task Team plan fits, at 119 dollars a month billed annually.
- Agents. One daily reconciliation run of up to 40 activities is about 880 activities a month, inside the 1,500 on Agents Pro at about 33 dollars a month.
Total: roughly 152 dollars a month for software that lets AI act inside QuickBooks Online and Stripe. That is a reasonable price for what it does. Before you sign, it is worth comparing the alternatives on independent SaaS reviews, and against Workato pricing if you are an enterprise team weighing a governed platform instead.
The cost a task allowance never caps
Here is the number missing from the budget above. When we read the Zapier MCP action catalog for nine finance apps on 13 October 2026, we counted 138 write actions, 66 of which create, move or change money, and 1,921 input fields, none of which caps what the agent can spend. Square's Refund Payment, for example, refunds the full original amount if the agent leaves the amount blank.
Put the two meters side by side. A full refund of a 1,200 dollar order through Square costs two tasks, about 5 cents. A Create Bank Transfer in Xero or a Create Transfer in Brex costs the same two tasks whether the amount is 50 dollars or 50,000. Zapier's task meter tells you what Zapier will bill. It tells you nothing about what the agent sent, and Zapier states plainly that the task allowance is the only usage limit there is.
So the line that belongs in the business case is not "Zapier, 152 dollars a month". It is that plus whatever the agent can move with no budget, no per-transaction cap and no approval threshold. Our full breakdown of the Zapier MCP server and Zapier Agents spend controls lists every money action by app and what Zapier does and does not govern.
How to keep the agent side of the bill bounded
Three steps cover most of the risk without giving up what Zapier is good at:
- Expose fewer actions. Leave Create Transfer, Create Card and the raw API Request action off any server an AI client can reach. Six of the nine finance apps we read list API Request, which can call any endpoint the connected account allows.
- Pin what you can. Set the source account, the currency and, where it is genuinely fixed, the amount, instead of letting the agent choose.
- Put a spend policy in front of variable amounts. A per-agent daily and monthly budget, a per-transaction cap and an approval threshold, held somewhere the agent cannot edit. That is what AgentsPay spend controls do: the agent asks before it pays, amounts over your threshold go to a person, and every decision is logged.
The same policy covers agents connected straight to a vendor's own server, such as the Stripe, PayPal and Square MCP servers, so one set of limits governs every route to your money. See AgentsPay pricing to put a number next to the Zapier line.
Frequently asked questions
Does Zapier charge extra for MCP?
No. Zapier MCP is included in every plan, with no separate subscription or MCP fee. You pay through task usage instead, two tasks per successful tool call, drawn from the same monthly allowance as your Zaps. Failed calls cost nothing, and there is no limit on the number of calls in a session.
How many MCP calls do I get on Zapier Pro?
Half your task allowance, if MCP were the only thing using tasks. The entry Pro plan's 750 tasks give 375 successful calls, the 2,000-task band gives 1,000, and the 10,000-task band gives 5,000. Any Zaps you run share the same pool, so the real number for an agent is lower.
Is Zapier MCP cheaper than Workato MCP?
For small teams, usually yes. Zapier's entry Pro plan is 19.99 dollars a month billed annually and MCP is two tasks per call, while self-service Workato Pro starts at 75 dollars a month for 2,500 credits. Workato adds an MCP gateway with per-server quotas, which large enterprises often weigh more heavily than the list price.
Does a Zapier task limit stop an AI agent from overspending?
No. The task limit stops Zapier usage, not money. A two-task call can refund a whole order or transfer any amount the connected account allows, and with pay-per-task on, calls continue past the allowance up to three times the subscription. Spending limits have to come from a separate policy layer.
