Short answer: Coupa does not publish a list price for its buyer platform. Every Coupa contract is quoted, and third-party estimates for a first-year license start around 15,000 to 50,000 dollars for a small deployment and run well into six figures for an enterprise. What Coupa does publish is supplier pricing, from free to 50,000 dollars a year, and since May 2026 it bundles AI compute for Navi agents into the subscription at a flat rate for new customers.
We read Coupa's supplier offerings FAQ, its 2026 product announcements and the main third-party pricing trackers to separate what is verifiable from what is guessed. Where a number comes from an estimate rather than Coupa, we say so. If you are a US finance or procurement lead building the business case this quarter, this is the page to defend your number with.

How much does Coupa cost per year?
For a mid-size US company, plan on a five-figure first year at minimum and a six-figure contract once you add several modules. Coupa sells by module and by volume, so the quote moves with how many users you license, how much spend runs through the platform, and whether you take procurement alone or add invoicing, expenses, Coupa Pay and treasury.
ITQlick puts a 10-user first-year license at 15,000 to 50,000 dollars, adds 5,000 to 20,000 for onboarding, and lists extra integrations, exceeding user limits and advanced support as the usual hidden costs, for a first-year total of roughly 20,000 to 70,000 dollars. Treat those as directional. Coupa's real enterprise contracts are larger, and the number you get depends heavily on the modules and the negotiation.
Coupa cost per user
Coupa does not sell a public per-seat plan the way Expensify or Ramp do. When trackers quote a per-user figure, about 1,500 dollars per user per year is the commonly cited starting point, and that figure assumes a modest deployment. In practice your Coupa quote is shaped by licensed users and by spend under management, so a team with few users and a lot of spend can pay more than the per-user math suggests.
The useful question for the business case is not cost per user. It is cost per dollar of spend governed, and what you avoid by putting requisitions, invoices and approvals in one system.
How is Coupa Navi AI priced?
Coupa changed its AI pricing at Inspire in May 2026. It launched Coupa Compose, its bundle for building and orchestrating agents, with an outcome-based pricing model. Analyst coverage of the event explains the practical effect: for new customers and upgrades, Coupa includes AI compute in the subscription at a flat rate, with unlimited usage for the term, instead of billing tokens.
Coupa has also shown what that compute buys. In its 20 August 2026 release it reported that one customer's Navi Payment Batch Creation Agent ran 14 payment batches with 2,395 payments worth 20.1 million dollars in five weeks, at about 27 dollars in AI credits. Coupa Catalyst, the services arm with forward-deployed engineers, is priced separately.
What Coupa charges suppliers
Suppliers use the Coupa Supplier Portal free. Coupa's supplier offerings FAQ lists paid extras: a Verified badge at 549 dollars a year, an Advanced subscription at 4,800 dollars a year, and Premium Support at 499 dollars for 6 hours, 1,499 dollars for 12 hours, and up to 50,000 dollars a year for the Strategic level with 240 hours. These are the only Coupa prices printed by Coupa itself, and none of them is what a buyer pays.
Coupa pricing compared with the alternatives
| Platform | Published pricing | Model |
|---|---|---|
| Coupa | No | Quoted by module, users and spend |
| SAP Ariba | No | Quoted, AI paid in SAP AI Units |
| Expensify | Yes, 5 to 36 dollars per member per month | Per member |
| Ramp and Brex | Yes, core plan included, paid tiers per user | Card interchange plus per user |
If you only need a slice of what Coupa does, a lighter tool is often cheaper. A team whose real bottleneck is keying invoices can pull invoice data into your AP system automatically without a procure-to-pay contract. Coupa earns its price when you need approvals, budgets and supplier management in one governed flow.
The agent cost a Coupa license does not cap
The flat AI pricing covers what the agents cost to run. It says nothing about the money they move. When you connect Microsoft Copilot or a custom agent through Coupa MCP, Coupa describes the access as read-write and inheriting the user's permissions. We probed the MCP authorization server on six US tenants and found it offers two scopes, read and write, with both granted by default. The full measurement is in our Coupa AI agents and Coupa MCP spend controls analysis.
So budget two things. Configure Coupa's approval chains and approval limits for the user each agent acts as, which you are already paying for. Then cover the agent purchases that never touch Coupa, such as cards, API spend and checkout buys, with a payment layer that gives every agent its own hard spend limit and an approval threshold. That is the line item most Coupa business cases leave out.
Frequently asked questions
Is Coupa pricing public?
No. Coupa does not publish prices for its buyer platform. Every contract is quoted by sales based on modules, licensed users and spend under management. The only prices Coupa prints are for suppliers, from a free portal account to a 4,800 dollar Advanced subscription and up to 50,000 dollars a year for Strategic Support.
How much does Coupa cost for a small business?
Coupa is built for mid-market and enterprise buyers, so small deployments are expensive relative to per-seat tools. Third-party estimates put a 10-user first year at roughly 20,000 to 70,000 dollars including onboarding. If you have fewer than 50 employees, a per-user spend tool is usually a better fit.
Are Coupa AI agents included in the subscription?
For new customers and upgrades since May 2026, Coupa includes AI compute at a flat rate with unlimited usage for the term, according to analyst coverage of Inspire 2026. Existing customers on older contracts may see AI credits instead. Ask your account team which model your renewal uses.
What is the Coupa cost per user?
About 1,500 dollars per user per year is the starting figure most trackers cite, but Coupa does not sell public per-user plans. Your quote depends on modules and spend volume as much as on seats, so get the per-user figure in writing as part of the full quote.
Does Coupa charge suppliers?
The Coupa Supplier Portal is free for suppliers. Paid options are optional: Verified at 549 dollars a year, Advanced at 4,800 dollars a year, and Premium Support from 499 dollars a year. Buyers do not pay these fees.
Pricing the Coupa side is half the job. Before agents act inside it, set the limits that apply to the agent rather than the person. Start with per-agent spend controls, or compare how the same question plays out on SAP Joule agents and Navan and Expensify agents.
