Short answer: HubSpot Customer Agent costs 50 HubSpot Credits per conversation it resolves without a human, which is 0.50 dollars at HubSpot's list price of 0.01 dollars per credit. Conversations handed to a person are not billed. Prospecting Agent costs 100 credits, or 1 dollar, per lead it recommends for outreach. Both need a Professional or Enterprise subscription, which includes 3,000 or 5,000 credits a month, and everything past that is billed from a credit pack or as pay-as-you-go overage.
We read HubSpot's credits page, its product and services catalog, its knowledge base article on credits and billing (updated 9 September 2026) and its April 2026 announcement on outcome-based pricing, on 1 October 2026. Every HubSpot number below comes from HubSpot. The last section covers the cost HubSpot does not bill you for, which is usually the bigger one.
HubSpot Customer Agent pricing at a glance
| Item | Credits | Dollars at list |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Agent, per resolved conversation | 50 | 0.50 |
| Customer Agent, conversation escalated to a human | 0 | 0 |
| Prospecting Agent, per lead recommended for outreach | 100 | 1.00 |
| Data Agent, per prompt per record | 10 | 0.10 |
| Credit capacity pack | 1,000 | 10.00 |
| Pay-as-you-go overage | per credit, invoiced in tens | 0.010 |
Included credits depend on the subscription. Smart CRM, Marketing, Sales, Service, Content and Revenue Hub include 500 credits a month on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise. Data Hub and Customer Platform include 500, 5,000 and 10,000. Included credits reset monthly and do not roll over, and since Customer Agent needs Professional or higher, the Starter allowance does not help with agents.
How much does HubSpot Customer Agent cost per conversation?
It costs 0.50 dollars per conversation the agent resolves on its own, and nothing for a conversation that ends with a handoff to a human. HubSpot moved Customer Agent and Prospecting Agent to this outcome-based model in April 2026, replacing per-use billing. Before the change, Customer Agent was charged per conversation it handled whether or not it resolved it, and the rate was double.
The practical effect is that your bill tracks your resolution rate. If Customer Agent resolves 60 percent of 5,000 monthly conversations, you pay for 3,000. If you improve the knowledge base and the rate goes to 75 percent, the bill rises with it, because each extra resolution is a ticket your team did not touch. That is the right incentive for most support teams, as long as you budget for the upside case.
How much does HubSpot Prospecting Agent cost?
Prospecting Agent costs 100 credits, or 1 dollar, for each lead it recommends for outreach. Research on accounts that do not produce a recommendation is not billed under the outcome model. For outbound teams the useful comparison is cost per recommended lead against what an SDR spends researching the same account, and against cold email software that researches every prospect and writes the sequence itself. At 400 recommended leads a month, Prospecting Agent costs 400 dollars in credits before seats.
A worked monthly budget for a US support and sales team
Take a US company on Service Hub Professional and Sales Hub Professional. Customer Agent sees 5,000 conversations a month and resolves 60 percent. Prospecting Agent recommends 400 leads. A RevOps analyst runs Data Agent on 1,000 records.
| Line | Calculation | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Agent | 3,000 resolutions x 50 | 150,000 |
| Prospecting Agent | 400 leads x 100 | 40,000 |
| Data Agent | 1,000 prompts x 10 | 10,000 |
| Included credits | Professional allowance | minus 3,000 |
| Billable credits | 197,000 | |
| Credit bill | 197,000 x 0.01 dollars | 1,970 dollars |
Seats are on top of that. Two things move the number more than anything else: the resolution rate, and whether you hit the automatic upgrade described below. Model both before you sign.
What happens when you run out of HubSpot Credits?
It depends on what you bought. Once you have purchased additional credits, HubSpot lets a Super Admin set a maximum monthly credit limit for the account and feature-level limits for individual agents. HubSpot's knowledge base says that when usage reaches the account limit, any feature requiring credits will be paused until the next monthly cycle, unless you raise the limit. Feature limits are monthly spending limits, not allocations, and cannot exceed the account limit.
The default to watch is overage. HubSpot's article says that by default, when you have purchased additional credits and reach your monthly limit, your account is automatically upgraded to a higher credit capacity pack, and that upgrade applies for the rest of your commitment term. Pay-as-you-go overage at 0.010 dollars per credit avoids the permanent step up. You can change the setting at any time, and it takes effect the next usage period if you have already used credits this one.
The cost HubSpot Credits never caps
Every number above is the price of the AI work. None of it is the money the agents move. A Customer Agent costs 0.50 dollars per resolution whether the conversation ended with a password reset or a 400 dollar goodwill credit. A HubSpot agent tool that calls your refund API, or an agent with write access to quotes and line items, can commit amounts that never show up on the HubSpot invoice and are not touched by any credit limit.
We measured this directly in our HubSpot Breeze agents spend controls analysis. HubSpot's public scopes reference lists 157 OAuth scopes, 29 of them about commerce, billing, currency or tax, and not one of them expresses a limit, budget, approval or amount. HubSpot's protection is a human review step on TAKE_ACTION tools, on by default but yes or no on each execution, with no threshold. Once a team relaxes it for volume, there is no dollar ceiling left in HubSpot.
If your agents will issue refunds or credits, put the money limit where the money moves. AgentsPay gives each agent a per-transaction ceiling, a daily and monthly budget and an approval threshold that only asks a person above an amount you choose, enforced before the payment rather than reported after it. See how AI agent spend controls work, or the AI refund agent setup that most support teams start with.
Questions buyers ask about HubSpot Customer Agent pricing
Is HubSpot Customer Agent free?
No. It needs a Professional or Enterprise subscription and uses 50 credits per resolved conversation. The included monthly credits, 3,000 on Professional, cover about 60 resolutions, so any team using it seriously will buy credits or pay overage.
Does HubSpot charge when Customer Agent hands off to a human?
No. Under the outcome model introduced in April 2026, HubSpot charges only for conversations Customer Agent resolves without help from a human. An escalated conversation costs nothing in credits.
How do I stop HubSpot agents from going over budget?
Set a monthly account credit limit and feature-level limits per agent in the HubSpot Credits settings, and switch overage to pay-as-you-go. That caps the AI bill. To cap refunds, credits or purchases the agents make, you need a separate spend limit in the payment layer.
Is HubSpot Customer Agent worth it at 0.50 dollars a resolution?
For most US support teams the per-resolution price is well under the loaded cost of a human-handled ticket, so the math works if the resolution rate holds and the answers are correct. The risk is less the credit bill and more what an unsupervised agent can give away. Budget both, and compare it with Intercom Fin pricing and Zendesk AI agent pricing before you choose.
